This page describes how to add data from a csv or xlsx file to Google Maps just by dragging and dropping in 5 steps. How easy can it be? If you have a csv or xlsx with latitude and longitude fields you can drag this file into the Maps Engine of Google Earth. These are the steps to take. The first thing you see when you have logged into Google Maps (sorry gmail account is necessary) is this screen.
