Statistics, probability and ICT networks
Abstract
Statistics and probability play an important role in our daily life. We will begin the lecture by giving two examples taken from football that illustrate this importance. Then we show the importance of statistics and probability for the design and management of ICT networks. In particular we will discuss three examples: the design of reliable networks, the planning of telephony networks and finally the computation of waiting time in ICT networks.
