Coastal managers are provided with warnings and water forecasts when a storm is approaching. It is however often unknown what the effects of this storm will be on the coastal area. An operational early warning system is developed in MorphAn (a DeltaShell plugin), a program that is also used by water boards for e.g. dune safety assessments. With this calamity function, water boards will have access to recent or realtime 1D and 2D bathymetry data and realtime forecast data from RWsOS/MATROOS. Also, the calamity functions enables to run an XBeach model with these input data to assess the effect on the coastal area in terms of for instance dune erosion, runup, overwash and damage to buildings. A Graphical User Interface is provided to give a user access to the new function without any scripts. Furthermore, the input data and model uncertainties are quantified to provide an indication of the performance of the calamity function.
