Nourishment is an adaptation technology primarily used in response to shoreline erosion and flood reduction.  It is a soft engineering approach to coastal protection which involves the artificial addition of sediment to an area that has a sediment deficit. Normally the effect of nourishment needs to be modeled with a numerical model including sediment transport and morphology, however, in Delft Dashboard it is also possible to analyse the effects of a nourishment with the Nourishment toolbox.

...

  1. Create a model domain by clicking on 'Draw Outline' with a certain spacing (i.e. grid size)
  2. Define a polygon where you would like to model a nourishment
  3. Define how much sand you would like to deposit (i.e. certain volume, thickness, etc.)
  4. Click on 'Compute' to calculate the effect.

The effect are is strongly related to the currents you apply. It is possible to apply the same current in U and V in the entire domain or to apply a spatially varying current.
