Specific Nitrate Aquality App Web-Site disclaimer:

This Aquality App (formerly: Nitrate App) website relates to the use of the Nitrate Aquality App, as available for Android and Apple at the common places, and the information collected with the use of the Nitrate Aquality App.
The Nitrate Aquality App is for use by any person willing to actively participate in research on the relationship between different agricultural practices and water quality.

The Nitrate Aquality App aims to use the efforts of many people to establish the relationship between different agricultural practices and water quality. Offering a method that allows participants – which can be any person willing to actively participate in research on the relationship between different agricultural practices and water quality, but who we expect to be mainly farmers- to both collect nitrate measurements and share this information easily. Participants can take nitrate measurements by using test strips and share the outcome information by sending the results by smartphone. The thus collected measurements will be freely available on this web-site.

You may use the information presented at this website as long as you mention in any publication you make, that you made use of information collected using the Deltares Nitrate Aquality App Website https://publicwiki.deltares.nl/display/wqapp]

The accuracy of the app mostly depends on the accuracy of the test strips. Test strips typically just give a rough indication of the actual concentration. From these result, we estimated the accuracy of the strips and app-use at 30%. The accuracy of conventional lab measurements is ca. 10%. A known issue with test strips in general is that the colour reaction has a slight temperature dependency. At low temperatures, this leads to an underestimation of the higher nitrate concentrations for which a correction is possible. Note that the app is designed for outdoor use in good light conditions.
