At the moment (jan 2015), there are still under negotiations with within the management group of PSAM, whether or not the ecoboat pilots will be equipped with smartphones. If so, than the mobile application from PSAM is used to provide the system with real-time information.
The 3 main functionalities of the mobile application are:
- Tracking the real-time location of the ecoboats and sending this information to a webserver
- Report spotted trash in terms of volume/density on a scale of 1 to 5 and send this information to a webserver
- Report any cleaned trash in terms of a length or area and send this information to a webserver
