CVE-2026-91776

CVE-2026-91777

jackson-databind-*.jar

TypeDeserializerBase._findDeserializer() in FasterXML jackson-databind caches the resolved deserializer under the raw, attacker-supplied type ID. When name-based polymorphism is configured with a fallback, for example @JsonTypeInfo(use = Id.NAME, defaultImpl = ...), every distinct unrecognized type ID resolves to the same fallback deserializer but is retained as its own key in the _deserializers map. That map has no configurable bound and lives for the lifetime of the type deserializer, so an attacker who can repeatedly supply fresh unknown type IDs causes monotonic memory retention across requests. The reporter observed 10,000 retained entries from 10,000 distinct unknown IDs, against a single entry for a control that repeated one unknown ID the same number of times, isolating attacker-controlled key cardinality from request volume. Exploitation requires an application that enables name-based polymorphism with a defaultImpl or equivalent fallback, accepts attacker-influenced type IDs, and reuses a long-lived ObjectMapper across requests. The fix stops caching fallback resolutions for unrecognized IDs and bounds both the number of cached entries and the length of a cacheable type ID.

Forward-reference completion for @JsonIdentityInfo object IDs in FasterXML jackson-databind performs a linear scan of the pending-reference accumulator for every resolved ID. The affected paths are CollectionDeserializer.CollectionReferringAccumulator.resolveForwardReference() and the equivalent implementation in MapDeserializer. When a document first creates N unresolved object-ID references in an identity-enabled collection or map and then defines those same IDs in reverse order, completion performs on the order of N * (N + 1) / 2 identity comparisons, so a shallow document whose size grows linearly causes quadratic CPU work during deserialization. The reporter instrumented equals() calls on the ID class and measured exactly 2,003,000 comparisons at N = 2,000, against zero comparisons in the pending-reference lookup path for an equally sized control in which every reference was already resolved. The input requires no deep nesting and no syntactically unusual JSON. Exploitation requires an application that deserializes attacker-influenced JSON into an identity-enabled collection or map. The fix replaces the repeated linear lookup with a keyed pending-reference structure.

Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.26, 10.1.60, 9.0.122, which fixes the issue.

Inconsistent Interpretation of HTTP Requests ('HTTP Request/Response Smuggling') vulnerability in Apache Tomcat caused by processing the transfer-encoding header for an HTTP/1.0 request may allow an attacker to cause one request from another user to fail when Tomcat is located behind a reverse proxy. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.25, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.59, from 9.0.47 through 9.0.121. The following versions were EOL at the time the CVE was created but are known to be affected: from 8.5.67 through 8.5.100. Other unsupported versions may also be affected. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.26, 10.1.60 or 9.0.122, which fix the issue.

Allocation of resources without limits or throttling vulnerability in Apache Tomcat allows an unauthenticated AJP request to pin an AJP processing thread leading to denial of service. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.25, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.59, from 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.121. The following versions were EOL at the time the CVE was created but are known to be affected: from 8.5.0 through 8.5.100, from 7.0.0 through 7.0.109. Other unsupported versions may also be affected. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.26, 10.1.60 or 9.0.122, which fix the issue.

Incomplete cleanup vulnerability in Apache Tomcat allows a malformed request to potentially (depends on timing) cause one request from another user to fail. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.19 through 11.0.25, from 10.1.53 through 10.1.59, from 9.0.116 through 9.0.121. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.26, 10.1.60 or 9.0.122, which fix the issue.

Inconsistent interpretation of HTTP/2 requests ('HTTP Request/Response smuggling') vulnerability in Apache Tomcat caused by a regression in fix for CVE-2026-41293 can trigger request header mix-up. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.22 through 11.0.25, from 10.1.55 through 10.1.59, from 9.0.118 through 9.0.121. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.26, 10.1.60 or 9.0.122, which fix the issue.

ognl-3.3.4.jar

OGNL's optional stricter invocation mode maintains a block list that prevents expressions from directly calling methods on dangerous classes such as Runtime, ProcessBuilder, and ClassLoader. The block list filters on the declaring class of the method OGNL invokes. Because java.lang.reflect.Method (and Constructor/Field) are not on the list, an expression can use reflection as a proxy — someMethod.invoke(target, args) — to reach a blocked method. The real call (e.g. ProcessBuilder.start()) then executes inside the JDK reflection machinery and never passes back through OGNL's invokeMethod, so the block list never sees it.

3.3.4

As this is not a break of OGNL's primary security boundary and ognl is required for Thymeleaf no action is needed.

CVE-2026-89044

netty-all-4.2.17.Final.jar

Netty versions 4.1.133.Final through 4.1.137.Final and 4.2.13.Final through 4.2.17.Final fail to properly validate the final transfer coding in the Transfer-Encoding header, allowing attackers to smuggle requests by using malformed encoding declarations. Attackers can split Transfer-Encoding headers across multiple lines or use values like 'chunked, xchunked' to bypass validation and decode messages as chunked when the final coding is not chunked, enabling request smuggling attacks.

CVE-2026-44891

CVE-2026-55831

CVE-2026-55833

netty-all-4.2.15.Final.jar

Netty is a network application framework for development of protocol servers and clients. Prior to 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final, io.netty.handler.codec.stomp.StompSubframeDecoder fails to limit the total number of headers or their cumulative size per frame, and the maxLineLength parameter only restricts individual header lines. An attacker can send a large number of short headers that are accumulated in memory inside DefaultStompHeadersSubframe until the JVM throws an OutOfMemoryError, causing denial of service for servers exposing a STOMP endpoint based on StompSubframeDecoder. This issue is fixed in versions 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final.

Netty is a network application framework for development of protocol servers and clients. Prior to 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final, Netty's SPDY SETTINGS decoder accepts a peer-declared SETTINGS entry count up to the 24-bit frame-length limit and materializes every unique setting ID in `DefaultSpdySettingsFrame`, allowing a remote SPDY/3.1 peer to send a syntactically valid roughly 2 MiB SETTINGS frame that creates 262144 map entries and amplifies network input into heap growth and ordered-map insertion work. This issue is fixed in versions 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final.

Netty is a network application framework for development of protocol servers and clients. Prior to 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final, Netty SPDY header decoding continues inflating zlib-compressed header blocks after the raw header parser has exceeded `maxHeaderSize` and marked the frame truncated in `SpdyFrameCodec`, allowing a remote peer to send a small compressed `HEADERS` block that expands into much larger raw header data and causes compression-amplified CPU and allocation churn. This issue is fixed in versions 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final.

CVE-2026-53914 is an unsafe deserialization vulnerability (CWE-502) tied to the Kotlin build tools and compiler toolchain—specifically concerning how build cache metadata is handled during local compilation and build tasks.  The vulnerability does not reside in or affect the runtime standard library (kotlin-stdlib). Because production applications package kotlin-stdlib solely for runtime execution (where build-cache metadata handling logic does not exist), applications running version 2.3.x or earlier are not exposed to this attack vector in production environments.Resolution / Action Plan

CVE-2026-54399
CVE-2026-54428

httpcore-4.4.16.jar

Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in the HTTP/1.1 message parser in Apache HttpComponents Core (5.4.2 and earlier, 5.5-beta1 and earlier) allows an remote attacker to cause a denial of service through memory exhaustion by sending messages with excessive number of headers / excessive header length.

Allocation of resources without limits or throttling in the HTTP/2 HPACK decoder in Apache HttpComponents Core (5.4.2 and earlier, 5.5-beta1 and earlier) allows an remote attacker to cause a denial of service through memory exhaustion by sending oversized compressed header blocks before the HTTP/2 SETTINGS acknowledgement causes the configured header list size limit to be applied.

Both of these vulnerabilities apply only to version 5 of the Apache HttpCommons libraries. FEWS is using version 4, which has a completely different architecture, lacking HTTP support. False positive

mongodb-driver-core-5.8.0.jar
bson-5.8.0.jar

MongoDB on Red Hat Satellite 6 allows local users to bypass authentication by logging in with an empty password and delete information which can cause a Denial of Service.

Red Hat Satellite 6 is not supported by Delft-FEWS, but RHEL 8 / 9 is.
A RHEL installation should never be exposed to unauthorized users,  therefore mongoDB can only be accessed through the FEWS Live system which is protected by a proxy. If unauthorized access to a local user account occurs, the whole system is already compromised even before this vulnerability becomes relevant. Therefore it is considered a false positive.

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final, the Netty Redis codec encoder (RedisEncoder) writes user-controlled string content directly to the network output buffer without validating or sanitizing CRLF (\r\n) characters. Since the Redis Serialization Protocol (RESP) uses CRLF as the command/response delimiter, an attacker who can control the content of a Redis message can inject arbitrary Redis commands or forge fake responses. CVE-2026-42587

netty-all-4.2.12.Final.jar

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final, HttpContentDecompressor accepts a maxAllocation parameter to limit decompression buffer size and prevent decompression bomb attacks. This limit is correctly enforced for gzip and deflate encodings via ZlibDecoder, but is silently ignored when the content encoding is br (Brotli), zstd, or snappy. An attacker can bypass the configured decompression limit by sending a compressed payload with Content-Encoding: br instead of Content-Encoding: gzip, causing unbounded memory allocation and out-of-memory denial of service. The same vulnerability exists in DelegatingDecompressorFrameListener for HTTP/2 connections. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final.

netty-all-4.2.12.Final.jar

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final, HttpObjectDecoder strips a conflicting Content-Length header when a request carries both Transfer-Encoding: chunked and Content-Length, but only for HTTP/1.1 messages. The guard is absent for HTTP/1.0. An attacker that sends an HTTP/1.0 request with both headers causes Netty to decode the body as chunked while leaving Content-Length intact in the forwarded HttpMessage. Any downstream proxy or handler that trusts Content-Length over Transfer-Encoding will disagree on message boundaries, enabling request smuggling. CVE-2026-44248

netty-all-4.2.12.Final.jar

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final, the MQTT 5 header Properties section is parsed and buffered before any message size limit is applied. Specifically, in MqttDecoder, the decodeVariableHeader() method is called before the bytesRemainingBeforeVariableHeader > maxBytesInMessage check. The decodeVariableHeader() can call other methods which will call decodeProperties(). Effectively, Netty does not apply any limits to the size of the properties being decoded. Additionally, because MqttDecoder extends ReplayingDecoder, Netty will repeatedly re-parse the enormous Properties sections and buffer the bytes in memory, until the entire thing parses to completion. This can cause high resource usage in both CPU and memory. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final.

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final, HttpClientCodec pairs each inbound response with an outbound request by queue.poll() once per response, including for 1xx. If the client pipelines GET then HEAD and the server sends 103, then 200 with GET body, then 200 for HEAD, the queue pairs HEAD with the first 200. The HEAD rule then skips reading that message’s body, so the GET entity bytes stay on the stream and the following 200 is parsed from the wrong offset. Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final, Netty's HttpProxyHandler constructs HTTP CONNECT requests with header validation explicitly disabled. The newInitialMessage() method creates headers using DefaultHttpHeadersFactory.headersFactory().withValidation(false), then adds user-provided outboundHeaders without any CRLF validation. CVE-2026-42198

postgresql-42.7.10.jar

pgjdbc is an open source postgresql JDBC Driver. From version 42.2.0 to before version 42.7.11, pgjdbc is vulnerable to a client-side denial of service during SCRAM-SHA-256 authentication. A malicious server can instruct the driver to perform SCRAM authentication with a very large iteration count. With a large enough value, the client spends an unbounded amount of CPU time inside PBKDF2 before authentication can fail. A single attempt ties up a CPU core. Repeated or concurrent attempts exhaust client CPU and can wedge connection pools. In affected versions, loginTimeout did not fully mitigate this problem. When loginTimeout expired, the caller could stop waiting, but the worker thread performing the connection attempt could continue running and burning CPU inside the SCRAM PBKDF2 computation. This issue has been patched in version 42.7.11.

CVE-2025-66453

rhino-1.7.14.jar

Rhino is an open-source implementation of JavaScript written entirely in Java. Prior to 1.8.1, 1.7.15.1, and 1.7.14.1, when an application passed an attacker controlled float poing number into the toFixed() function, it might lead to high CPU consumption and a potential Denial of Service. Small numbers go through this call stack: NativeNumber.numTo > DToA.JS_dtostr > DToA.JS_dtoa > DToA.pow5mult where pow5mult attempts to raise 5 to a ridiculous power. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.8.1, 1.7.15.1, and 1.7.14.1.

1.7.14.1 and lower

Exploitation would require attacker-controlled input reaching Rhino JavaScript toFixed() processing. We do not expose a user-facing scripting interface or arbitrary JavaScript execution path in the pilot service

CVE-2026-34480

(linked to CVE-2026-34479)

log4j-*.2.25.3.jar

Apache Log4j Core's XmlLayout https://logging.apache.org/log4j/2.x/manual/layouts.html#XmlLayout , in versions up to and including 2.25.3, fails to sanitize characters forbidden by the XML 1.0 specification https://www.w3.org/TR/xml/#charsets producing invalid XML output whenever a log message or MDC value contains such characters. The impact depends on the StAX implementation in use: * JRE built-in StAX: Forbidden characters are silently written to the output, producing malformed XML. Conforming parsers must reject such documents with a fatal error, which may cause downstream log-processing systems to drop the affected records. * Alternative StAX implementations (e.g., Woodstox https://github.com/FasterXML/woodstox , a transitive dependency of the Jackson XML Dataformat module): An exception is thrown during the logging call, and the log event is never delivered to its intended appender, only to Log4j's internal status logger. Users are advised to upgrade to Apache Log4j Core 2.25.4, which corrects this issue by sanitizing forbidden characters before XML output.

2.25.3 and lower

Impact on Delft-FEWS is nihil as Delft-FEWS itself is not writing log messages to xml files. This means that the core of Delft-FEWS is not affected.  Some of the Delft-FEWS model adapters are writing log messages to xml files, but then the impact is also limited.

netty-all-4.2.9.Final.jar

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. In versions prior to 4.1.132.Final and 4.2.10.Final, a remote user can trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) against a Netty HTTP/2 server by sending a flood of `CONTINUATION` frames. The server's lack of a limit on the number of `CONTINUATION` frames, combined with a bypass of existing size-based mitigations using zero-byte frames, allows an user to cause excessive CPU consumption with minimal bandwidth, rendering the server unresponsive. CVE-2026-24734

tomcat-embed-core-11.0.14.jar

Improper Input Validation vulnerability in Apache Tomcat Native, Apache Tomcat. When using an OCSP responder, Tomcat Native (and Tomcat's FFM port of the Tomcat Native code) did not complete verification or freshness checks on the OCSP response which could allow certificate revocation to be bypassed. This issue affects Apache Tomcat Native:  from 1.3.0 through 1.3.4, from 2.0.0 through 2.0.11; Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.17, from 10.1.0-M7 through 10.1.51, from 9.0.83 through 9.0.114. The following versions were EOL at the time the CVE was created but are known to be affected: from 1.1.23 through 1.1.34, from 1.2.0 through 1.2.39. Older EOL versions are not affected. Apache Tomcat Native users are recommended to upgrade to versions 1.3.5 or later or 2.0.12 or later, which fix the issue. Apache Tomcat users are recommended to upgrade to versions 11.0.18 or later, 10.1.52 or later or 9.0.115 or later which fix the issue.

tomcat-embed-core-11.0.14.jar

Improper Input Validation vulnerability. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.14, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.49, from 9.0.0-M1 through 9.0.112. The following versions were EOL at the time the CVE was created but are known to be affected: 8.5.0 through 8.5.100. Older EOL versions are not affected. Tomcat did not validate that the host name provided via the SNI extension was the same as the host name provided in the HTTP host header field. If Tomcat was configured with more than one virtual host and the TLS configuration for one of those hosts did not require client certificate authentication but another one did, it was possible for a client to bypass the client certificate authentication by sending different host names in the SNI extension and the HTTP host header field. The vulnerability only applies if client certificate authentication is only enforced at the Connector. It does not apply if client certificate authentication is enforced at the web application. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.15 or later, 10.1.50 or later or 9.0.113 or later, which fix the issue.

December 2025CVE-2024-36404
gt-28.2.jarGeoTools is an open source Java library that provides tools for geospatial data. Prior to versions 31.2, 30.4, and 29.6, Remote Code Execution (RCE) is possible if an application uses certain GeoTools functionality to evaluate XPath expressions supplied by user input. Versions 31.2, 30.4, and 29.6 contain a fix for this issue. As a workaround, GeoTools can operate with reduced functionality by removing the `gt-complex` jar from one's application. As an example of the impact, application schema `datastore` would not function without the ability to use XPath expressions to query complex content. Alternatively, one may utilize a drop-in replacement GeoTools jar from SourceForge for versions 31.1, 30.3, 30.2, 29.2, 28.2, 27.5, 27.4, 26.7, 26.4, 25.2, and 24.0. These jars are for download only and are not available from maven central, intended to quickly provide a fix to affected applications.

The WFS (Web Feature server) implementation in FEWS is a 'Simple" profile implementation of the WFS standard which is read-only, does not include XPath expression and does not use the vulnerable gt-complex-x.y.jar library reported here, Therefore this is considered a false positive

gt-28.2.jarGeoServer is an open source server that allows users to share and edit geospatial data. GeoTools Schema class use of Eclipse XSD library to represent schema data structure is vulnerable to XML External Entity (XXE) exploit. This impacts whoever exposes XML processing with gt-xsd-core involved in parsing, when the documents carry a reference to an external XML schema. The gt-xsd-core Schemas class is not using the EntityResolver provided by the ParserHandler (if any was configured). This also impacts users of gt-wfs-ng DataStore where the ENTITY_RESOLVER connection parameter was not being used as intended. This vulnerability is fixed in GeoTools 33.1, 32.3, 31.7, and 28.6.1, GeoServer 2.27.1, 2.26.3, and 2.25.7, and GeoNetwork 4.4.8 and 4.2.13.

A scan of the FEWS codebase shows that the gt-xsd-core and gt-wfs-ng modules are used only by the The WFS (Web Feature server) implementation in FEWS.
The WFS (Web Feature server) implementation in FEWS is a 'Simple" profile implementation of the WFS standard which is read-only and does not allow for any kind of use of external schema. Therefore this is considered a false positive.

postgresql-42.6.0.jarpgjdbc, the PostgreSQL JDBC Driver, allows attacker to inject SQL if using PreferQueryMode=SIMPLE. Note this is not the default. In the default mode there is no vulnerability. A placeholder for a numeric value must be immediately preceded by a minus. There must be a second placeholder for a string value after the first placeholder; both must be on the same line. By constructing a matching string payload, the attacker can inject SQL to alter the query, bypassing the protections that parameterized queries bring against SQL Injection attacks. Any project that parses untrusted Protocol Buffers data containing an arbitrary number of nested groups / series of SGROUP tags can corrupted by exceeding the stack limit i.e. StackOverflow. Parsing nested groups as unknown fields with DiscardUnknownFieldsParser or Java Protobuf Lite parser, or against Protobuf map fields, creates unbounded recursions that can be abused by an attacker.

This warning goes off triggered by un-versioned references to Google Protobuf-java both in the NetCDF-java libraries and in THREDSS as well as a properly patched version protobuf-java-3.25.5.jar in the FEWS binaries. This is considered to be a bug in the OWASP dependency scanner we cannot fix.

June 2025CVE-2025-52999

jackson-core-2.13.2.jar
jackson-core-2.14.2.jar

Jackson-core contains core low-level incremental ("streaming") parser and generator abstractions used by Jackson Data Processor. In versions prior to 2.15.0, if a user parses an input file and it has deeply nested data, Jackson could end up throwing a StackoverflowError if the depth is particularly large. jackson-core 2.15.0 contains a configurable limit for how deep Jackson will traverse in an input document, defaulting to an allowable depth of 1000. jackson-core will throw a StreamConstraintsException if the limit is reached. jackson-databind also benefits from this change because it uses jackson-core to parse JSON inputs. As a workaround, users should avoid parsing input files from untrusted sources.

In the open-archive users can not input json, in the FEW webservices user input in json format is disabled by default and should only be configured for authenticated users. In FEWS desktop application the user already has access to the system. There for this is not considered a high risk.

mydoggy-res-1.4.3p

An uncontrolled search path element vulnerability has been found on 4D and 4D server Windows executables applications, affecting version 19 R8 100218. This vulnerability consists in a DLL hijacking by replacing x64 shfolder.dll in the installation path, causing an arbitrary code execution.
This warning suddenly appeared for no obvious reason as it did in the Adapters branch earlier, probably an error in the NIST database.

Mar 2025CVE-2025-27553commons-vfs2-*.jar

Relative Path Traversal vulnerability in Apache Commons VFS before 2.10.0. The FileObject API in Commons VFS has a 'resolveFile' method that takes a 'scope' parameter. Specifying 'NameScope.DESCENDENT' promises that "an exception is thrown if the resolved file is not a descendent of the base file". However, when the path contains encoded ".." characters (for example, "%2E%2E/bar.txt"), it might return file objects that are not a descendent of the base file, without throwing an exception. This issue affects Apache Commons VFS: before 2.10.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 2.10.0, which fixes the issue.

This VFS (Virtual File System) library is used only by the data import module of FEWS. The code has been scanned but no calls to the resolveFile method using this specific NameScope are found. Even the possible case where this may be called indirectly should not be a major concern as the file paths used to import data from can only be configured by FEWS configurators and there is no way a remote attacker can interfere with this without first gaining access to the file or database systems used by FEWS in some other way.

CVE-2024-47875

swagger-ui-*.js

DOMPurify is a DOM-only, super-fast, uber-tolerant XSS sanitizer for HTML, MathML and SVG. It has been discovered that malicious HTML using special nesting techniques can bypass the depth checking added to DOMPurify in recent releases. It was also possible to use Prototype Pollution to weaken the depth check. This renders dompurify unable to avoid cross site scripting (XSS) attacks. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.5.4 and 3.1.3 of DOMPurify. All users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.

This is apparently embedded in the swagger test pages provided for testing of the FEWS webservices. These pages should never be open to untrusted/public input so the swagger library has been updated in 2024.02 but this is considered a false positive.

July  2024CVE-2024-36401gt-complex-31.1.jar

GeoServer is an open source server that allows users to share and edit geospatial data. Prior to versions 2.23.6, 2.24.4, and 2.25.2, multiple OGC request parameters allow Remote Code Execution (RCE) by unauthenticated users through specially crafted input against a default GeoServer installation due to unsafely evaluating property names as XPath expressions... A workaround exists by removing the `gt-complex-x.y.jar` file from the GeoServer where `x.y` is the GeoTools version (e.g., `gt-complex-31.1.jar` if running GeoServer 2.25.1). This will remove the vulnerable code from GeoServer but may break some GeoServer functionality or prevent GeoServer from deploying if the gt-complex module is needed.

FEWS uses the Geotools library, not GeoServer, the WFS (Web Feature server) implementation in FEWS is a 'Simple" profile implementation of the WFS standard which is read-only, does not include XPath expression and does not use the vulnerable gt-complex-x.y.jar library reported here, Therefore this is considered a false positive

CVE-2024-34447

CVE-2024-29857

bcprov-jdk15-*.jar

The software communicates with a host that provides a certificate, but the software does not properly ensure that the certificate is actually associated with that host.

An issue was discovered in ECCurve.java and ECCurve.cs in Bouncy Castle Java (BC Java) before 1.78, BC Java LTS before 2.73.6, BC-FJA before 1.0.2.5, and BC C# .Net before 2.3.1. Importing an EC certificate with crafted F2m parameters can lead to excessive CPU consumption during the evaluation of the curve parameters.

This library is related to the OpenID authentication support in the FEWS web services and admin interface. FEWS only allows the use of certificates from a local truststore which is managed by the system administrators, so the scenario where a certificate is "imported does not apply. Therefore we consider this a false positive.

Azure CLI REST Command Information Disclosure Vulnerability

The Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) was made aware of a vulnerability where Azure Command-Line Interface (CLI) could expose sensitive information, including credentials, through GitHub Actions logs. The researcher, from Palo Alto Networks Prisma Cloud, found that Azure CLI commands could be used to show sensitive data and output to Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) logs. Microsoft recommends that customers update to the latest version of Azure CLI (2.54) and follow the guidance provided below to help prevent inadvertently exposing secrets through CI/CD logs. A notification in the Azure Portal was sent to customers who recently used Azure CLI commands informing them of an available update.

September 2023 CVE-2023-34040

spring-boot-3.0.7.jar

In Spring for Apache Kafka 3.0.9 and earlier and versions 2.9.10 and earlier, a possible deserialization attack vector existed, but only if unusual configuration was applied. An attacker would have to construct a malicious serialized object in one of the deserialization exception record headers. Specifically, an application is vulnerable when all of the following are true:

- The user does not configure an ErrorHandlingDeserializer for the key and/or value of the record

- The user explicitly sets container properties checkDeserExWhenKeyNull and/or checkDeserExWhenValueNull container properties to true.

- The user allows untrusted sources to publish to a Kafka topic By default, these properties are false, and the container only attempts to deserialize the headers if an ErrorHandlingDeserializer is configured. The ErrorHandlingDeserializer prevents the vulnerability by removing any such malicious headers before processing the record.

Two out of three conditions mentioned in the description are not met in the case of FEWS. This library is currently only used for the admin interface, which should never be made available for use by "untrusted sources" over the internet.

CVE-2021-37136,

CVE-2021-37137

netty-all-4.1.48.Final.jar

The Bzip2 decompression decoder function doesn't allow setting size restrictions on the decompressed output data (which affects the allocation size used during decompression). All users of Bzip2Decoder are affected. The malicious input can trigger an OOME and so a DoS attack.

and

The Snappy frame decoder function doesn't restrict the chunk length which may lead to excessive memory usage. Beside this it also may buffer reserved skippable chunks until the whole chunk was received which may lead to excessive memory usage as well. This vulnerability can be triggered by supplying malicious input that decompresses to a very big size (via a network stream or a file) or by sending a huge skippable chunk.

False alarm. Bzip decoder is not used. Excessive memory usage might lead to a failing FSS in the worst case. Since the Azure IOT Hub is quite well secured, the risk is limited.False positive. Upgrade in development to latest release.

Oct 2020CVE-2017-9096iText-2.1.3.jarThe XML parsers in iText before 5.5.12 and 7.x before 7.0.3 do not disable external entities, which might allow remote attackers to conduct XML external entity (XXE) attacks via a crafted PDF.
This library is used only to export timeseries charts and to index PDF help files that are distributed with Delft-FEWS. Untrusted content will never be opened using iText so this is considered a false positive.False positive, upgrading this would require a commercial version that may not be backwards compatible,.

Mar 2019CVE-2019-7611elasticsearch-core-6.4.3.jarA permission issue was found in Elasticsearch versions before 5.6.15 and 6.6.1 when Field Level Security and Document Level Security are disabled and the _aliases, _shrink, or _split endpoints are used
Elastic search as distributed as part of the archive server and doesn't have Field Level or Document Level Seurity disabled. As long as the provided settings are not changed, there is no risk.False positive. No need to upgrade since the archive server configuration is correct. Once a fix is available we can upgrade the jar to avoid this false alarm.
