The 'Kustlijnzorg' project (Dutch for Coasline Management) in the Netherlands is concerned with all aspects of Dutch coastal sediment management policies. Main elements of focus are the dynamic preservation policy established in the 1990's and the coastal foundation policy established in the beginning of the 21st century. Part of the study projects related to these policies was a frame of reference analysis of the main policy constituents and their interrelationship:[Conscience|http://www.conscience-eu.net/] is an EU specific targeted research project that aims to test in six coastal sites key coastal erosion concepts in order to develop guidelines and tools for the sustainable management of erosion along the European coastline. It is envisaged that the combination of the decision-making framework and the provision of guidelines and tools will prove highly valuable to coastal managers when deciding on the most sustainable method of managing erosion at any given location.
