One of the tools in this research project is a simulation game, which we use in a workshop setting.

Main conclusions from the session at the conference Deltas in Times of Climate Change were (download full report conference, see page 91):
- The game generates a lot of energy. The players were very enthousiastic about the game. It gave a clear insight in
the relationship between the watersystem measures and the connection with society - It also cleary showed the participants that stategies are of no use for 'ever lasting times'. In other words: each
strategy has its own short or long term that it is effective in - The third major lesson is that playing this game gives the participants insight into the most robust pathway for an
adaptation strategy. By exploring different strategies players are able to find out robust measurments. Adaptation is
a pathway - The game also includes a warning: policy makers tend to react on events rather than anticipate climate variabilty
Recently, we developed together with Tygron a 3dimensional version of the game software, based on Tygrons game engine and the Waas game. See the fly-over de Waasdelta here
