Abstract
In the thesis Confidence in coastal forecasts Fedor Baart analyses five different coastal forecasts. These forecasts are used as an example on how to include and create confidence intervals. But having confidence in a forecast entails more than just the statistical aspects. In this session we discuss confidence in a more general context. Discussion topics are:
- What determines the quality of a forecasts?
- What techniques can be used to show confidence in a forecast?
- How do other science fields deal with confidence?
