Modelling & optimisation of energy production from multiple tidal lagoons in Bristol Channel
The research of this master thesis deals with the optimisation of energy generation from a set of tidal lagoons in the Bristol Channel (UK). The lagoons are proposed by the UK-based firm Tidal Lagoon Power, and have a cumulative energy capacity approaching 7GW. Due to the size and complexities of these projects, optimisation of the energy production becomes an important issue, and so this thesis proposes to use a new type of simplified 1D model for optimisation, and a 2D hydrodynamic model for capturing the full hydrodynamic impact.
