During this study, the focus will be on straining and mixing by tides. We will in particular investigate the role of the amplitude of the tide in the Rhine ROFI dynamics. To do so, a parameter space of Reynolds and Keulegan-Carpenter numbers will be explored. In LES-COAST assumptions are made causing the dimensionless numbers to diverge from the dimensionless numbers in the Rhine ROFI. By exploring the parameter space of the dimensionless number, the influence of these number on the ROFI dynamics can be explored.
