With check box selection, selecting the label does not select the item. You will have to check the checkbox to select the item. A greyed out selected checkbox means the it has children of which some are selected. If all children are selected, the parent will automatically be selected as well. It is therefore not that one, but not all locations associated with the local branch (the parent and its children) are selected. Like in the normal selection mode, it is possible in check box selection mode to select all only the children without selecting their the parent.
