The Advanced Nesting toolbox continues where the Nesting toolbox stops. In the normal Nesting Toolbox it was possible to apply a two-level nesting, however, in practical application often a more nesting steps are required. The Advanced Nesting toolbox gives the possibility to define a so-called tree structure. This means that the user can define the hierarchical nature of multiple numerical models. The models supported are similar too the normal Nesting toolbox and areOn top of that, more models are supported than in the Nesting toolbox. The following models are supported: Delft3D-FLOW, WAVE, FLOW+WAVE, XBeach, XBeach transects and LISFLOOD.

In Tree Structure the user can link multiple numerical models with one XMLfileXML file. In the XML file information related to the numerical models (i.e. model type, coordinte coordinate system, nesting sequence) are saved. After the   hierarchical nature is defined Delft Dashboard will create observation points in the model models and , run the model models plus create boundary conditions if needed. This loop will continue till all simulations have finished.

  1. Add the models you would like to nest. Make sure you define the proper coordinate system and define the  hierarchical nature
  2. Create a an XML of the tree structure by clicking on the 'Make observations'.
  3. Create observations by clicking on the 'Make observations'.
  4. Run the batch scriptby click  by clicking on the 'Run batch script'.
    1. For Deltares users it is possible to run on the H6 cluster.
    2. For non-Deltares users select the 'local' option.
