There is a fixed timeout of 10s for the first database connection. A longer timeout would hide symptoms and not solve the problem. If this timeout would be longer, also performance is not expected to be optimal. If this happens, please send the full log file so that we can know the OS version, Delft-FEWS release version, database flavour and error message.
- Is a firewall / virusscanner blocking the database port or creating latencies?
- Is it a virtualized environment or plain hardware?
- Is https proxy / SSL used?
- Is there a VPN also draining the entropy?
- Is there excessive IO load?
- Is there a lack of entropy (randomness for the encryption engine)?
- Is there a faulty wifi on battery / hardware / firewall / virusscanner that is blocking the database port or creating latencies/ network adapter?
