The model that was used to as an example was [xbeach|http://www.xbeach.org]. The code with the openmi and esmf implementations can be found in [the agu2010 branch|https://repos.deltares.nl/repos/XBeach/branches/agu2010]. To access the code you can register a user account at [OpenEarth|http://www.openearth.eu].  The two modelling frameworks that were used are [ESMF|http://www.earthsystemmodeling.org] and [OpenMI|http://www.openmi.org].
