Introduction

The DELFT-FEWS configuration guide provides the advanced user of DELFT-FEWS with the information required to set-up and maintain a configuration of DELFT-FEWS. The objective of the guide is to be used both as a reference manual during the development and maintenance of an implementation of DELFT-FEWS, as well as to provide some of the background philosophy on how to go about setting up a forecasting system. It is expected that the reader of this guide has a basic understanding of DELFT-FEWS and its structure.

To understand how to configure DELFT-FEWS, a good understanding of the structure of the configuration is required. The ( first part ) of this guide therefore gives an introduction into the different parts of configuration. In the second part of the guide (three) the concepts used in DELFT-FEWS for handling data are explained. The third part of the guide is dedicated at the different configurations in DELFT-FEWS. Chapter 6 provides an overview of the available modules in DELFT-FEWS and how each of

Section 3 gives details on configuration of system components such as display settings while chapter 4 describes the various regional configuration components which relate to a specific regional FEWS systems (e.g. montoring locations). Section 5 provides documentation on the 'module instances' available in DELFT-FEWS for example interpoltaion of data or how to configure an external model such as ISIS (using the General Adaptor Module) including how these can be configured to provide acheive the required functionality.

Section 6 Chapter 7 explains how configured modules are linked into logical tasks through configuration of workflows. In chapter 8 section 7 the configuration of user displays is discussed. Chapter 9 Section 8 discusses mapping information from external data sources. Chapter 10 Section 9 discusses handling of static module data. In chapter 11 10 some elements of configuring DELFT-FEWS as an operational system are discussed.

In the fourth section 11 a brief introduction is given on how to set-up a forecasting system. This is to give some idea on how to approach configuring a complex system such as DELFT-FEWS. A brief guide in the use of the configuration management module to support configuration is given in chapter 13. Chapter section 12. Section 13 details the addtional functionality available in additonal modules available through DELFT-FEWS.

Section 14, finally, gives some tips and tricks on configuring DELFT-FEWS. Throughout the text, relevant details to be taken into account in configuration is given in text boxes.
