Introduction

The 'Tide Stations' toolbox allows to the user both to view and download water level time series derived using astronomical constituents for a selected tidal station and to directly define observations points in Delft3D-FlOW. Dashboard makes use of both the station of IHO and XTide.

Usage - View and download water levels

A tidal station can be selected with the mouse from the Map View or chosen among one of the hundreds available “Tide stations”. There are three options available for each tidal stations:

  1. “View Tide Signal” can be used to view the tide signal between “Start Time” and “Stop Time”.
  2. “Export tide signal” can be used to export the time series at the selected location in a tek-format. It is also possible to change this to to a Matlab format.
  3. "Export components" can be used to export the components of the tidal signal i a mat-format. It is also possible to change this to a tek-format.

Usage - Make observation points

An interesting possibility for the Delft3D-flow model is the option of 'Make Observation Points'. With this button the user creates with one click observation points within Delft3D-flow at all the locations of the tidal stations. When this option is combined with 'Export Tide Signal' a quick comparison of the accuracy of the simulation is possible. This possibility is also showed in Tutorial 1: set-up a tidal model.

Figure: The Tide Stations toolbox makes it possible to both create observations points and view/export tidal signals as can be seen in this example where we export the tidal signal of a station at the coast of India
