Minimum, mean and maximum series

This function of HYMOS comprises the computation of minimum, maximum, mean and median values as well as two quantiles for specific time periods.

Calculation interval

Minimum, maximum, mean, median and quantile values for the following time periods can be obtained:

  • day
  • month
  • year
  • seasons
Say, the selected time period is month and the time interval of the series to be analysed is day , then this option can provide you the minimum, maximum mean, median and quantile daily value per month between a start and end data.
When season is selected as calculation interval the user can select a season from the "Season definition" combo box. The first item in this season combo box is "User defined", this means that no season is selected form the list but one period will be entered by the user. Therefore the "Begin date" and "End date" of the period must be entered in the appropriate text boxes, make sure the entered format is "DD-MM".
The time interval of the series for which the minimum, maximum mean, median and quantiles values are to be determined should be less than the time period as indicated below:
    Period time interval
    day Dt < 3,1
    month Dt < 2,1
    year Dt < 1,1
    seasons Dt < 1,1

    Series Codes

The series for calculation can be selected or de-selected by clicking the checkbox of the series in the series list box. Only one series may be selected in one execution.
An example of a graph can be:

In this graph there is a vertical line, a box and horizontal lines. The minimum and maximum values are represented by the bottom and top values of the vertical line. The quantiles are represented by the bottom and top of the box and the mean and medium are represented by the horizontal lines.

Graph options

When the season option from the calculation interval is selected, there is the possibility to select between output formats of the function results:

  • Summary data: the aggregated seasonal results will be presented, this means aggregated over the number of processing years.
  • Parameter data: the season results will be shown for one parameter. Select a parameter from the "Parameter in graph" list box.
  • Season data: the seasonal results will be shown for one season. Select the season by changing the "Season # in graph" value.
  • Yearly data: the aggregated yearly results will be presented, this means aggregated over the number of seasons.
The results, i.e. minimum, maximum, mean, median and quantiles series can be stored as new series in the database or exported to other windows applications.
