Select the most suitable pilot areas with preferably a dense monitoring network of groundwater levels and soil moisture

Workshop with farmers farmers to select requirements will be organised by Deltares, Achmea, waterboards.

Clip and run of the regional MODFLOW-METASWAP-WOFOST model for the selected pilot area to check if the results make sense.

Integration of models in a FEWS system for real-time forecasting. 

Export relevant WOFOST output from FEWS system (such as potential production and water-limited production).

Develop the farmers’ app with as input the exported data from FEWS

Data assimilation with available soil moisture satellite data and groundwater level measurements (inventory). 

Evaluate model with historical crop damage data from the farmers and ground measurements and with available historical satellite data. 

Evaluation of the app with the farmers, the water boards, Achmea and Milan SAF.
