Climate adaptation of rubble mound breakwaters

In this thesis I will investigate the possible adaptation strategies of rubble mound breakwaters through an adaptation pathway. In recent research it was already concluded that the current guidelines for overtopping in TAW/EurOtop are not always accurate enough if combination of solutions (crest wall, berm, increased foreshore and/or a low-crested structure) are applied on a breakwater or dike. Subsequently, the solution with the biggest knowledge gap in current guidelines is computed in a numerical model (OpenFOAM) to verify if the guidelines are correct for the combination of solutions.
