Summary project

This project (CLIMACS-3D) is a continuation of the DEL171 project (CLIMACS) with the same partners. In the CLIMACS project, we are working on a project examining the effects of a shallow foreshore as a climate mitigation measure for coastal structures, together with Van Oord, The Weather Makers, TU Delft, and Deltares. In the Climacs project, Schedt Flume experiments were conducted, and practical guidelines were derived (see). In this project, we will validate these findings for realistic sea states, including 3D effects (Wave direction and directional spreading)

Model experiments

Physical model experiments are conducted in the Delta Basin based on the setup applied in the Scheldt Flume. A 1:50 slope is constructed with a breakwater at the end of the slope.  At several locations at the breakwater, wave overtopping is measured for a large set of wave conditions.
