The XBeach menu in Delft Dashboard resembles the different modules in XBeach source code. More information can be found in the XBeach manual.

Description

Toolbox

To perform a number of operations according to the Toolbox selected from the Toolbox tab in the Top Menu.  For all the supported models this is the quick mode of the model maker and the possibility to combine several sources of bathymetry.

Model physics

The data Group Model physics offers the user to selected which XBeach modules (swave, flow morphology, eg.) one wants to run. On top of that physical constants like gravitional acceleration and rho can be specified. The physical advanced options are not yet operational.

Model domain

The data Group Model domain contains the following sub-data groups: Grid parameters, Initial conditions and advanced options

  • Grid parameters: in thus sub data group all the parameters related to the hydrodynamic grid (nx, ny, etc.), but also of the wave grid (thetamin and thetamax) can be set. XBeach offers user to work with a XBeach or Delft3D grid, so it is possible to to simply select a Delft3D grid with the button xyfile.
  • Initial conditions: gives the user the possibility to define the initial water elvel
  • Advanced options: at the moment only the option to enable hotstart flow is implemented.
Time inputThere are two settings which need to be set in order to do a XBeach simulation. First of all the simulation time in seconds (tstop) needs to be set. Secondly, the time step used in the hydrodynamic simulation is determined based on a given maximum Courant number using the keyword CFL.
