SWAMmud is a special version of the SWAN wave model of TU Delft. SWANmud has a special dispersion relation and an additional damping term for a 2-layer fluid mud system. The equations of the dispersion relation, it's thorough derivation and validation tests are published in

Kranenburg, W.M., Winterwerp, J.C., de Boer, G.J., Cornelisse, J.M. and Zijlema, M., 2011. SWAN-mud, an engineering model for mud-induced wave-damping, Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 137, 959 (17 pages). (doi: 10.1061/(ASCE)HY.1943-7900.0000370).

The source code, test cases and executables are distributed via the OpenEarthTools Fortran toolbox. Join OpenEarth to get a free account to this repository. The OpenEarthTools SWAN Matlab toolbox can readily handle the output files of SWANmud. These files are the SWAN default output files with extra parameters. In addition, an extra sp2 file MUDFile is written that contains the real and imaginary wave numbers for all frequencies, x and y, it has the same syntax as the other sp2 files (HOTFile etc.) so it can be loaded with swan_io_spectrum.m.

Application of this new SWANmud are:
