location name in dbf file and FEWS display contains the character ÿ

  • cause: if there is a non-breaking space in the xls file with which you create the dbf file this will be transformed into the character ÿ in the dbf file.
  • solution: replace the non-breaking space with a normal space and create the dbf file again.
  • region: Northwest (Fylde)

location name is cut off in dbf file

  • cause: if the column width is to small, information at the end of the line might be lost when generating the dbf file
  • solution: enlarge the column width before generating the dbf file
