The Water Resources Agency of Taiwan (WRA) and Deltares have a longstanding relation. For more than 20 years, they worked closely together on water resources management and flood-damage mitigation projects, including  flood diversion, flood retention, drainage improvement, and flood early warning systems.

In those projects the modeling framework SOBEK has been the powerful tool to support the work of the engineers in the design, rehabilitation of the water systems and in providing flood-control information.

The new User Interface will provide WRA an even more powerful tool.

The Pearl River Delta (PRD) is situated in the Guangdong province in the P.R. China. It covers the lower part of the Xijiang, Beijiang and Dongjiang deltas, including Shenzhen, the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions and the Pearl Estuary. The river network has a total river length of over 1600 km and a coastline extending over 450 km from east to west. The PRD Region is the most densely populated and economically developed region, which covers an area of 42,600 km2 comprising 9 cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Jiangmen, Huizhou and Zhaoqing. In 2005, the PRD Region had a resident population of 43.15 million and a GDP of 1805.9 billion RMB.

Recently Deltares provided a tool for the HKEPD and the Guangdong Environmental Protection Bureau (GDEPB) to support their joint water quality management in the Pearl River Delta.
