The factors of influence on the duration of nearshore bar cycles
The purpose of the internship at Deltares is to take hold of one of the knowledge gaps in modelling of near shore bar behaviour. This knowledge gap comprises the factors of influence on the duration of the cyclic behaviour of nearshore bars. There are models, predicting the near shore bar behaviour relatively accurate, but it is still unknown why the duration of the cycle between formation and fading out of the bars varies for the several locations, examined. The focus of the research will lie on the duration of the bar cycles near Egmond and Noordwijk in the Netherlands. For these locations there is a validated and calibrated UNIBEST-TC model available, which will be used for the analysis.
