Systematic scale model tests to determine application boundaries for wave penetration models in harbours

The main goal of this thesis is to compare the performance of PHAROS (mild-slope model), TRITON (Boussinesq-type model) and SWASH (non-hydrostatic model) for wave propagation into ports, with the aid of a physical model.

A few schematised models of ports will be constructed in the Delta Basin and subjected to a large range of wave conditions. The physical modelling is done in the context of the project Benchmark tests for Harbour models and is scheduled for 23 June – 18 July. Measurements from the physical model will be compared to the numerical results from the three models mentioned above.
