Seasons Definition

The Season Definition function offers the user the possibility to add seasons to the database. These seasons can be used in other functions for the selection of data. At the moment only the MinMeanMax function and some options of the Series Homogeneity function uses the seasons for data selection, the analysis can be done for these defined seasons in one computation.

To enter a season in the database, press the <Add new> button to clear the spreadsheet with start dates and end dates of the periods, and do the following steps:

  • Enter a name of the season definition in the <Season name> text box.
  • Change the number of dates through the spin button.
  • Enter the start date of the first period and the end dates of the other periods.
  • Press the <Save> button to save the season in the HYMOS database.

An example of a season is shown in the above picture. A year is divided in 4 periods, each period containing three months of data. To enter this in the HYMOS database, enter the start date of the first period under start date and the end date (date not included) under end date. HYMOS will copy the end date of the first period to the start date of the second period, therefore you have to enter only the end date of the second period, etc..

Press <Save> to save the entered season to the database. Press <Delete> to delete a selected season from the database. Press <Close> to leave the season definition function.
