Main page Data Portal

If you want to find data based on a geographical or a temporal extent, click on "Advanced search". A new search screen opens, see image below. On the map you can see the spatial extent of the datasets in the catalogue, delineated by the orange rectangles. Here you can find datasets based on "What?", "When?" and / or "Where" criteria. You can make a search request based on either on of these criteria, or combining them. If you leave one blank the criteria will not be used.

Advanced search window

What: type one or more search terms. The site will automatically make suggestions based on your input. If you don't want to use a suggestion, press the Escape button. The catalogue will search through all information of the dataset using there search terms, such as the organisation, key words, topics, type of resource. Thus the search terms can apply to many aspects of the datasets.

When: select the time (period) for which the dataset provides information.

Where: first, zoom in on the world map to the area of interest using the mouse scroll button or the buttons on the top right. Next, select the "Draw" button on the top left of the map and select an area. The spatial extent is shown by a red rectangle. To stop selecting an area and continue browsing the map, click on the "Draw" button again to deselect the Draw tool.

When done, press enter or the "Search" button. The results are shown below. Depending on the search results, on the left side of the screen are a set of filters to further narrow down the results.
