Delft-FEWS and the OpenArchive can easily be linked. Delft-FEWS has a lot of possibilities to export data  to the OpenArchive which makes it easy to store data in the OpenArchive from FEWS.

At the same time Delft-FEWS can access the data stored in the OpenArchive in several ways.

Data from the OpenArchive can be used in Delft-FEWS from viewing purposes but it is also possible to download data from the archive and use the data in transformations and/or the general adapter.

In the chapters below we will first explain how data from the Delft-FEWS can be exported to the OpenArchive.

We will also explain how to connect from a Stand Alone or an Operator Client to the OpenArchive and use the data for viewing or calculation purposes.

Exporting data from Delft-FEWS to the OpenArchive

The configuration of the data export to the OpenArchive is quite similar to the configuration of a regular data export in Delft FEWS.

The data export is executed by a regular FEWS workflow in a FEWS FSS. The data directly written by the FSS to the data directory of the archive.

The harvester of the archive will detect during its next run that new data was added to archive and update the catalogue accordingly.

More detailed information about the configuration of data exports to archive can be found here 22-2 Export to Deltares Open Archive

Connecting to the OpenArchive

To connect to the OpenArchive from a Stand Alone or an Operator Client you need specify where the OpenArchive is located.

This can be done by using the Archives.xml file in the SystenConfigFiles folder.

More detailed information can be found here: 10 Archives

You can easily check if you are connected to the archive by using the status bar in the FEWS explorer.

If you are connected to the archive, the name and version of the archive will be displayed.

If the connection fails because of a configuration error (or when the archive is not available) you will see the following:

After the configuration on the Archives.xml (which is only a few lines of configuration) a lot functionality becomes available!

Below a summary of the functionality which is available after configuring the Archives.xml.

Forecast Management Display

The forecast management display will have an additional tab "Archived forecasts" available. This panel will show in the upper part of the panel

which forecasts are available in the archive. The forecasts can be downloaded by using the download button.

Using data in Delft-FEWS workflows: the ArchiveDisplay

The archive display can be used to search for data in the archive and to download and import it.

At the moment it is only possible to import data into a stand alone.

It addition it is possible to create, update and delete events. The create events can be used in the same display to download and import data.

Details about how to configure the archive display can be found here:
