Introduction and goal:
The MSc Thesis research 'Sediment sorting at nourishments' will be about the spatial variations in sediment size and grading at nourishments in the cross-shore and alongshore direction. The spatial variations in sediment size and grading around the Sand Engine nourishment will be investigated as a case study. The goal of this MSc thesis is to understand the spatial variations in sediment size and grading in a coastal environment after a nourishment and to gain insight into the time scales of the sediment sorting process.
Status:
I conducted a measurement campaign to obtain sediment samples around the Sand Engine. I sieved these sediment samples to obtain the grain size parameters of the samples.
Currently I am analysing the data from these measurements.
