The Deltares Data Portal is the starting place to find and publish spatial data sets. The portal facilitates the discovery, multiple usage and dissemination of spatial data. For questions on the data portal, please send an e-mail to deltaresdataportal@deltares.nl.

How to find data?

The Deltares Data Portal consists of two main ways to find data. Firstly, the Spatial Data Catalog. Here you can search for datasets available at Deltares, explained in more detail here.

Even though many important datasets will be made accessible by the catalog, there are many more spatial datasets available via external data portals. A categorical overview of the major external data portals has been added to this wiki. If you cannot find the data in the Spatial Data Catalog, look around there for portals that could help you.

How to add your own dataset to the catalogue?

To add a dataset, you need to fill in the metadata. We are currently working on an easy and mostly automated method of filling in the metadata and adding it to the catalogue. For now, you can contact us (deltaresdataportal@deltares.nl) if you want a dataset to be published.

How to work with spatial data?

There is an extensive collection of tutorials and short tech notes on analyzing, retrieving and creating various spatial data formats with different software tools on the Open Earth tutorials page.

Why not just Google the data?

You might wonder if Googling for the data of interest is a more efficient way to find the data. Unfortunately, the datasets contained within the Deltares Data Portal and external portals are often not indexed for Google, and will therefore not show up in your search results.
